I took this photo a few weeks ago on a trip to London to renew my passport
Although I have lived in London for nearly 25 years and all of my adult life, i still see London through the eyes of a tourist sometimes
My children might wonder what I see in this picture, but to me it is iconic London Underground

I love how it’s so empty.

It’s funny, we usually see these escalators bustling with commuters rushing up and down to catch the next train, bus or Taxi…. But in the middle of the day, a few minutes after a train has left the station, many platforms can be eerily quiet! I had to capture this emptiness although if you look closely there are people at the top of the right hand escalator, and in the next photo, the busy-ness has returned!

Me too, I loved it when I first got here & you would think by now I’d be a bit desensitised having commuted for so many years, but I still get a thrill when I get to go on it! I love how they refurbish it. I remember how grotty some stations used to be, and It is great to see them restored to their former glory

I share your sentiments about the Underground. It has its delays and strikes and discomforts, but we could all step back for a moment and appreciate what a great piece of living history we have here!

True
I love the really old lines. The Bakerloo Line was the first, running from Baker Street to Waterloo, hence the name 🙂 The modern refurbishments embrace the history of the stations, and the original tiles designs which are lovely
