Slow me down.
Ease the pounding of my heart by quieting my mind.
Steady my hurried pace.
Give me,
in the confusion of my day,
the calmness of the everlasting hills.
Break the tension of my nerves and muscles.
Help me know the magical, restoring power of sleep.
Teach me to take minute vacations by slowing down to look at a flower or a cloud,
to chat with a friend,
to pat a dog,
to read a few lines from a good book.
Remind me that the race is not always to the swift,
that there is more to life than increasing speed.
Let me look upward into the branches of the towering oak and know that it grew great and strong because it grew slowly and well.
Slow me down.
Inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil of life’s enduring values that I may grow towards the stars of my great destiny.
Welcome back. We all need a copy of this on our wall.

Of course I completely ignored this today and as a result I am a wreck 😦

Good to have you back, Barb. Great prose. I tell my granddaughter to slow down all the time, that doing everything in a hurry will make her nervous, and cause other problems.

Thanks Jo, I missed being here so much! The WiFi in Egypt was really expensive & slow so I mainly used it to send money to my daughter who kept running out while minding the house!
I took loads of photos in my first few days, and then fell, and my camera broke, so I was quite gutted! Also since we came back some of the days have been perfect for photography, so I haven’t even wanted to look on here in case I had missed out on some great photo challenges!
My insurance company were wonderful & paid out straight away, so I will be getting my replacement camera tomorrow, so I expect to get a new bout of energy when it arrives & hope to post some holiday photos at last!!

I have started a photo challenge where I have to take a photo of me every day for 365 days. I am hoping that it will teach me to actually like some photos of me…
you can see one of them [the first] here: http://jobryantnz.wordpress.com/2013-365-club/
and February’s to date here: http://jobryantnz.wordpress.com/2013-365-club/365-club-february-2013/
