The last photos before I broke my camera! An Egret Dancing

Egret Dancing

Full of excitement with having my new super camera with a 24x zoom (Panasonic DMC FZ62), I brought it everywhere with me in Egypt.  I had it in my handbag in it’s case that came with it, so I expected that it would be safe from any bumps that it might encounter.

I didn’t account for my clumsiness and ability to fall into holes in the street that aren’t there, let alone actual holes in the street that are there!  We came out of a little supermarket after having bought a few bottles of water & I tripped on a pretty massive hole in the pavement and went flying, much to my embarrassment.

Not very hurt, just my pride & a few grazes on my hands & knees we went to sit down on a step of a nearby kerb.  A lovely egret was wandering through the grass right beside us, so I pulled out my camera to find the screen completely smashed.  I turned it on to see what would happen, and the screen failed to show anything, so I had a go looking through the viewfinder which still worked & I started taking photos of the lovely Egret.  I zoomed in for some close up shots, and then when I went to zoom out again, a message came up on the viewfinder ‘Error’.

That was the end of my lovely new camera for the rest of the holiday, but luckily I had brought my old faithful compact camera along to, so it kept me sane for the rest of the holiday.

Back in the UK I managed to claim on my insurance, so I have a replacement camera now 🙂

Here are the photos of the lovely Egret that danced so beautifully for me before my camera gave up the ghost.  Click on any of the gallery photos to make them larger.

You captured some lovely photos before your disaster, Barbara. Thank goodness you were able to replace your camera.

Thanks 🙂 I was really heartbroken when I found it smashed, and cos I couldn’t sort the insurance until I got home it really upset me for quite a few days!

I went back to my old camera, but I just kept noticing all the marks on the photos (there are scratches on the lens) but after a few days I recovered my enthusiasm enough to start taking photos again & I have some more great ones to show later

At least it was the camera and Peter was not asking the insurance company for a replacement Barbara! Stay upright, no need to copy me!!
