Ha ha! You should have lived in Nana’s, then you would know all about it. I remember your young and innocent mother (pre marriage) coming into the kitchen one Sunday evening to offer help. Nana always glad of help, suggested she set the table. As she went to get the cutlery, Nana said: “We are small in number tonight, only the eight of us!”. Your mother nearly fainted. Eight times five potatoes = 40 spuds to be peeled for dinner every day.

I wouldn’t mind… a meal for 8 or more is not a problem for me (Peter & I have 6 children altogether plus partners too which makes lots, but we haven’t had them all here for quite some time!!) What I HATE with a vengeance is deciding what to cook. As Nana said, if you can read you can cook, & I’ll make anything people want, but i have zero inspiration and I’m not bothered. left to my own devices i’d eat pasta 24/7, or more likely tuna on toast, bagels, and just plain toast. When the girls were younger i used to eat whatever I made them, I’ve just never had a desire for any special food

At the moment I can’t smell, anything. Which has it’s advantages when you have a Wilson who loves swamps. But my lack of sense of smell is like my lack of desire for any particular food. I just don’t care that much. It all tastes a bit like dry rice crispies to me at the moment.

That’s not saying I don’t love a delicious meal, I really do. But it’s very very low on my list of priorities. And that’s when I can smell and taste it properly 🙂

And Peter is vegetarian & doesn’t like certain foods, and the girls both have different tastes, and come 5pm I get questions like ‘what’s for dinner?’ and I get put off answering because I can guarantee someone is going to complain about my suggestion. And if they’d only decide what they want, I’d make it! But I can’t stand the deciding process.

And I’m feeling sorry for myself at the moment ‘cos I’m feeling so ill, and that makes me even less hungry and less inclined to make food for people who are going to complain about it or disagree about it….

And I saw this picture & it described perfectly how I felt

You see it’s true…. a picture truly does paint a thousand words!!

  2. So sadly, painfully true, and now you’re making me think… I need to figure out what everyone’s eating tonight!!

Hope you’re feeling better, Barbara. I am so with you on this cooking business. I used hate that time of day and the same ol’ question, “What’s for dinner.” Especially since I don’t like to cook. I bless the day my late husband took over. He loved to cook.

My ex loved cooking, and to be honest, I don’t mind it either… once I know what to cook!

That reminds me, I decided after my post yesterday to ‘follow’ Vegetarian Recipes and immediately came up with a great simple one that I decided we would have for today….. and I have completely forgotten to get the ingredients!!

      Back shortly!
