Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting

The Botanical Gardens Dublin

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Robert Frost

I recently paid another flying visit to Ireland, this time for my mum’s 70th birthday party.  I’ve been so busy since I came back that i haven’t had time to write about anything, and I have loads to write about my lovely visit.  The weather was stunning, warm and sunny, a complete contrast to my last visit when we were caught in a blizzard on Dawson Street!  I took loads of photos of the old village beside where I grew up, and still have to process them, the weather was so good I had my camera out the whole time.

On my last day my flight was in the afternoon so I went for a lovely breakfast with dad in the Dundrum Shopping Centre, and then as the weather was perfect he took me to see The Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin, the Irish equivalent to Kew Gardens (with free entry & €2 parking for the whole day)

Dad had seen how much I love taking photos and thought I might like to visit the gardens in this beautiful summer weather.  We only had an hour before I had to go and catch my flight, and the second I walked in to the gardens I got stuck…. the first flowerbed was exquisite!

I’m not sure that my camera did it justice, but here are a few photos from my fleeting visit to The Irish Botanical Gardens.  Dad says every time he visits the display is different….. flowers are with us just for a moment as Robert Frost so beautifully said.  So this post fits this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge Fleeting perfectly.

I will add some more photos from this beautiful garden soon, I just wanted to share some of them as soon as I could!

    You have some great macro shots here. Looks like a beautiful place to reclaim mind, body, and soul. We have a botanical garden here that I visit frequently for just that reason. Glad you had a good time with your folks and some quality time with your dad.
