Al’s post about the strange garden he passes on his walks sometimes reminded me of a very strange sight we found a few years back when walking in the woods near Farnham in Surrey
This was what drew our attention to the gardens… The blue and yellow tugboat was a definite anomaly in the woodlands!
Seeing a boat in the woods is not normal in Surrey, especially a blue and yellow tugboat shaped thing! We had to investigate further! The Sculpture Garden we found by following the fence until we found a gate was only open to the public for a few hours on some days so we were very lucky to arrive at the right time. Nowadays (we found the gardens in October 2005) the park is open every day and there are over 600 sculptures to be found in its grounds!

This stuff is too cool!! I’ll never be afraid on my walk again. Put this on the list of places to visit for me.

I forgot to say I have always meant to buy Dad a Tit Box as I thought it would tickle his fancy…. Not sure if they have them any more, I vaguely remember going and asking a few years ago 🙂

I love that one, I think it is my favourite too. All the throw away plastic junk of modern society… the plastic baby dolls for example are so grotesque now. Long ago, (in my childhood for example ) toys were precious, and they all had names. I have a photo of me at about 8 with ‘ALL’ my toys around me… I still have them all, they take up a small shelf in my bedroom. I work in a charity shop at the moment, we are drowning in discarded plastic toys and unwanted out of date electrical items…..

As you all know, I love sculpture. Barbara my wonderful niece with a magic for the camera, shared the wonders she discovered while walking in the woods near Farnham in Surrey, England. I So want to go there and experience the place for myself. I particularly loved the shoe trees. What is your favourite?
