Weekly Photo Challenge: The Golden Hour

This week’s Weekly Photo Challenge is The Golden Hour

In photography, the “golden hour” is the first and last hour of sunlight of the day. Photographers venture out on sunrise hikes or sunset treks to capture a magical shot, due to the quality of the light during that time of day. For this challenge, we want you to go out and snap a photograph, wherever you may be, during this Golden Hour — and pay attention to the natural light around you.

Last weekend we were staying on the boat in Chichester Harbour.  The sunsets were beautiful & i took hundreds of photos. Then on Sunday morning I woke up at 5am, and realising it was close to dawn I crept out again with my Camera again.

I think WordPress really are looking at what photos I am planning to share and are writing their posts around them!!

Here are some of the photos I took;

Please click on the images below to see them full size & let me know which ones are your favourites,  I can’t decide!

Finally, As I was watching the sunrise, this song was in my head, so I thought I’d add a musical accompaniment to your viewing!

      Thank you, the light was fantastic, I was trying to focus on different parts of the view to compare the outcomes. I love the reflections in the water

    Thanks for the soundtrack. It made picking out my favourites very pleasant: sunset 4,7,12,13,14,18 and sunrise 4,7,9 and 18. I was looking mainly at the overall composition. I preferred ones where the sun wasn’t central. I also liked the ones where you could see the sun’s reflection repeating in a vertical line from background towards the foreground. The foreground detail in sunrise 18 is great. They are all lovely though. 😀

      I’m glad you liked so many of them! I don’t often photograph sunsets in this country as we live in the east so the sun sets over the land. What I liked about this spot like you said, is the way the sun reflects in the water, a sight not so common from this side of the UK

    These are beautiful Barbara. The one through the reeds is actually should be blown up, framed and mounted on a wall. These shots prove your worth as “keeper of the royal shutter”!

    Sorry people, Al has just told me that the song on you tube won’t play in America due to licensing restrictions. If you’d like to hear it try searching the song; Raglan Road sung by Sinéad O’Connor
