This is a photo of the converted mill buildings beside ‘Thames Lock’ the last lock on the River Wey in Weybridge before it joins the Thames. I am composing another post about the lock in connection with some historical photos of the lock that I have found, but for now let me just tell you that this lock was built in 1653 with the bricks from Oatlands Palace which was one of Henry the VIII’s hunting lodges which was situated where I now live!
Thanks Donna for this challenge and the reminder!!
Lovely. You’ve really managed to unlock the beauty of this place.

Ouch. I nearly didn’t notice that one! I was too busy feeling complimented 🙂

Beautiful area, it must be quite relaxing to be up there on that overhang that juts out from the building, over looking the water 🙂

I’d say it would be, but I’ve never seen anyone there? Maybe they come out in the evenings?

Too much of a waste to build that and not have someone hanging around there!!

I want to sit out there and soak up the silence, then steal the patch of blue sky and take it home with me.

It is beautiful… maybe you need to retire to a canal boat?

Definitely, and you could head south to warmer climes in the winter & north for a cooler summer 🙂

The reflection on the calm water is really effective! I love the warmth of the brick and the way the eye follows the water off the page. What a visual treat.
