Very heavy rains are not good news if you live too close to a river, but if you are a Wilson, they spell heaven!
Today we took him to Brooklands which is usually a huge area of grass around a little swamp. After the recent rains the river Wey burst its banks and

Indeed! We have had to keep him out of the rivers, they are a bit fast flowing 🙂 (Not sure he likes his name, he has just gone upstairs whimpering!)

We are very lucky, looking at the Environment Agency flood zone for our area the flooding ends at the end of the gardens across the road. It has never been that high (yet) even in 2002 when the Thames flooded all of the area around Walton Bridge. It was quite spectacular but i didn’t take photos until the water was gone 😦

Today is calm and I actually went for a walk this morning. More wind promised for tomorrow night, but hopefully not as strong as the last couple of storms. Neighbours on both sides lost ridge tiles and the dividing fence from one of them paid a visit to my garden!

Goodness! Our neighbours fence came down, but it didnt fly! Peter has just spent the day cutting up a large silver birch that fell into one of his customer’s gardens. He normally has no work in January, but he might be busy until we go away after all.

A piece of fascia board blew off the bungalow next door (the one with the broken fence) on 13 Dec , it nearly hit George a wallop as he was putting rubbish in my bin.

George and Elly are in Dublin again and preparing to go to his family for new year.
I am well battened down, though the winds are not expected to be so strong this time.

Yes, hopefully not so strong winds, but the earlier winds and heavy rains will have loosened the roots & fence posts!
