At the end of this month my eldest daughter Rebekah will be 18. I’m finding that hard to take in! My baby will be an adult in less than 30 days!! It hardly seems any time at all since she was starting school, and she is now filling out her UCAS form applying to University places for next September.
I found the photo below in a box I was tidying. It was one Charlotte took of Rebekah, Peter & me in the garden. We worked out that Rebekah was probably 11 in the photo, so it is about 7 years old. I decided to try & take a photo from the same angle yesterday (it was a lovely sunny morning) but when I compare the two photos I probably should have knelt down! Charlotte would have only been 7 at the time!
The first photo was taken in late spring, and the second yesterday, early autumn, so there are some differences because of the timing. I will try & get Charlotte to take a photo of the 3 of us next spring when the flowers are in full bloom again.
Somehow it is easier for me to process the maturing of my garden, than it is of my children. Next time we take the photo Rebekah won’t be able to stand in front of me as she would block me out! Maybe I’ll make her kneel!
