Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreign

So many photos to choose from with this theme again!

I took this one outside a post office in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerela, India.  What interested me was the labelling of the boxes, ‘Local’, ‘Foreign’ and then ‘All Places’

Letter Boxes in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerela

Have a look at other contributions to the Weekly Photo Challenge

I do expect I won’t be able to resist posting more as the week goes on… Watch this space!!

A perfect fit for the challenge!

I have come across mail/post/letter boxes of all three colours, but they were in different countries. Red in the UK, Green we both grew up with in Ireland and the navy blue was on the USAF base in Wiesbaden, Germany!

  6. Lovely pic..!!! Let me take the liberty to tell you that the place is called Thiruvananthapuram? (It’s our capital city)…But I know our places have quite tricky names that many a times even we get confused…so not a big deal.. 🙂 You have a great space Barbara… Keep going..

Oops!! Sorry! I even typed it into Google to check! Over here people are lazy & call it Thrivandrum, like they call Mumbai; Bombay, so I do my best, but I am dyslexic, so even if i am copying spelling directly I will get it wrong sometimes, especially when there are so many letters! Malayalam words are really long but very musical too!! Please feel welcome to correct me 🙂

OK… I think I have corrected them! Please could you check? WordPress & my spellchecker still don’t like how we spell your capital! I have some more lovely photos for you from Thiruvananthapuram, I will try & remember to let you know when I finally get round to posting them!

  7. Kudos..!!! You have typed it right this time 🙂 Yeah..people still summon the city by ‘Trivandrum’…it was the city’s name during British rule…we somewhat are reluctant to forget it despite of new names being given to Bombay(Mumbai), Madras(Chennai),Calcutta(Kolkata) . Bangalore(Bangaluru) etc.etc. 🙂
I am definitely not going to miss your photos.

You remind me of him in some ways, it was funny sitting beside him on the sofa reading comments from you on my blog. Were he on the blogosphere he would make similar comments, though his posts would be different as he is not a confident writer. Like me he is dyslexic, but he didn’t have the support I had, so he never became a confident reader or writer.
