This weeks Weekly Photo Challenge is Pattern.
I love finding patterns in things. When I was in University we went to CERN in Switzerland to see the ATLAS particle detector in the Large Hadron Collider and I found lots of interesting patterns that I photographed
I have no idea what most of the things I photographed are, just components of particle detectors or magnets or accelerators. One of my favourite photos is of a bin of metal shavings!

The floor of the Visitor Centre in CERN. The floor lights up in different places in response to the detection of cosmic rays
This is my favourite quote about the LHC by Steve Meyers, head of accelerators & beams at CERN.
“The LHC is the first accelerator ever built that has the ability to self destruct”
Luckily it hasn’t yet 🙂
Here’s my earlier entries for the Photo Challenge; Pattern
Your photo of metal shavings reminds me of a box of gold findings and fine coils used in Gold Work embroidery – think elaborate vestments and royal formal garments. It was fun playing with them for designs and using them down the years. The final photo reminds me of beading work with crystal beads and silk threads.

The last photo does look like delicate threads with beads, and I would love to make a 3D photo with the metal shavings 🙂

The second photo reminds me of the overhead light just before I go under for surgery.

Nine is a bit much! I don’t remember seeing the lights any of the times I had operations, but I can’t remember how many I had either…. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t 9 though!! I think the anaesthetic affected my memory!
