Where on earth have I been? I can’t believe its been nearly a month since my last post! I’ve missed all my favourite weekly challenges, I’ve got some catching up to do! I have been ill, even more than normal, I’ve caught a nasty cold that has been doing the rounds so now I can’t smell, hear almost nothing & I keep losing my voice! Everyone else who has caught it has surfaced again after a few days… I’m drowning!! Lets just hope I don’t get an eye infection or I’ll really be in trouble!
Firstly in September my Baby moved to Southampton to go to University! When I moved to London (forever) many moons ago I had one bag. This child needed two cars and 4 parents to help move her to Southampton! And she will be back for Christmas! We had a great day though, and it was wonderful for all 6 of us (plus Wilson of course) to sit and have a meal together before saying goodbye to her. A really really special moment for me.
Then, in addition to working and sleeping and trying to rest, we also needed to move the boat back from its mooring on one side of Langstone Bridge to it’s wintering spot on land at the Langstone Sailing Club, on the other side of the bridge. (we did the opposite trip in fog in May this year)
Unfortunately the bridge doesn’t lift up like tower bridge, so we had to go the long way, all they way around Hayling Island. The weather was dreadful in the says leading up to our trip so we brought all the waterproof and wind-proof gear we could find in the house, but it turned out to be a lovely dry sunny day, far warmer than any of the other days that week
Even still I wrapped up warm. I didn’t want my cold to get any worse!!
Here are some of the photos of our trip;
- My Favourite house
- The tide is rising, the grass will soon disappear
- We have to go around Chichester bar to avoid the sands
- Wilson, the salty seadog watches out for Cats and Sea Rabbits
- And we had to go around Langstone bar too, especially now as the tide had turned
- Sand bar appearing in front of Hayling Island
- Cormorant taunting Wilson from the new beach
- Inside Langstone Harbour the tide is running out!
- Time for lunch before the next leg
There’s lots of more lovely photos the following morning, as we had to be up early to get the boat ready to be taken out of the water, but if I start posting them now it will be November before this gets online!
Here is sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery and return to a lot of blogging.

Oh Barbara, it is horrible to hear that you are sicker than ever. I have stopped at this very moment to say a prayer that you will get better soon. Love the photo of Wilson.

Sorry to hear that sickness has lingered. Good to hear from you however. I, too, hadn’t posted in over a month (just did yesterday). It must have been sympathy pangs for you.
I love this picture of Wilson! It really lets us see his sweet face.
Good luck to your “baby” in University. Seems like we were just doing that with ours, but alas, that was many moons ago now.

Take care my little pet lamb. I figured there was a good reason for you lying low. I love the red coat….. what do you do with your cast offs?? 😉

I have two teenage daughters snapping at my heels! That coat was a present from Peter, its particularly good for sailing, super warm, windproof and waterproof. Some of my clothes go on eBay eventually when they have been rejected by all 3 of us and any friends who happen to be staying over, otherwise Barnardos and the attic fight over the rest. I am a dreadful hoarder 😦
