Weekly Photo Challenge: The World Through Your Eyes

This week’s Weekly Photo Challenge is The World Through Your Eyes

As a foreigner (although I have lived more of my life in London than in Dublin) I always get a thrill from going into central London and seeing iconic sights.  It is even better by boat as I am able to take photos outdoors without the fear of getting run over, or having people walk in front of the camera.  I have posted a few of my pictures of Big Ben in a previous photo challenge

Here are a few more of my photos of London, through my eyes 🙂

Happiness is a red convertible

Today I actually got to drive one!

At the Weybridge Sailing Club Regatta people were moving boats with a lovely red convertible with a tow bar, so I couldn’t hold back, I had to ask for a go

Weekly Photo Challenge: Curves

Here is a photo from my recent visit to Dublin that I wasn’t expecting to be sharing so soon!  As I mentioned in my post for the photo challenge ‘Fleeting‘ I visited The Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin, with Dad on my last day.  He loves this sculpture and insisted I take a photo of it.

The title of this sculpture is 'A perfect night'

The title of this sculpture is ‘Best Night Ever’

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting take 2

Walking on Desborough Island the other day with Wilson, wrapped up in my winter woollies wondering what on earth had happened to our summer (again) my eye was caught by these beautiful delicate blue flowers.  It was windy & cloudy, so I didn’t even bother trying to photograph them.

Suddenly just before we were about to head home, the skies cleared and the wind dropped, I turned on my camera and found a tiny flower to focus on.  I took one photo, and the battery died. Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting

The Botanical Gardens Dublin

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Our Superhero

image

Today at around 5am, although his spirit was still strong David’s body decided that it couldn’t cope with the pain and suffering anymore and gave up it’s fight after a courageous three years and two days. Dave died peacefully in his sleep, and we are sure that he is now enjoying a Leeds Rhinos Veterans game at the Headingley in the sky.

He truly has been our superhero, no more so than in his last few days when he was still making us smile, and he wasn’t phased by being back in hospital. To be fair, this was in part due to the morphine which left him a bit confused, leading him to come out with some gems such as thinking that A&E was a bar, that he and Dick were married, and that he was “0.000001% away from being the only little man who can save the world”. We…

Weekly Photo Challenge: The sign says

Somebody at WordPress really has been trawling through my physics photos, as yet again I find myself able to respond to this weeks Weekly Photo Challenge with photos from Cern!

The challenge announced last Friday is ‘The Sign Says

When we went to Cern (in Switzerland to see the ATLAS particle detector in the Large Hadron Collider) we were all in fits of giggles at some of the signs.  I just had to capture some of them;

Tough times

My friend David is really struggling again, back in hospital undergoing chemotherapy & struggling with horrid side effects….. He loves getting comments on his blog, so if you have a few minutes maybe pay him a visit & say hello

Thanks xxx

Hi all, this is David’s mum/Janet.

Things are getting a bit tough for Dave at the moment, meaning more time spent at the hospital than he’d like. To try and keep his white cell count (leukaemia) under control he’s on oral chemo, but this means that his platelets keep dropping to scarily low levels. The doctors just can’t keep up with them!

All of this has meant that Dave’s nose has been bleeding regularly for the last 5 days, and today the sores in his mouth have been bleeding too. Quite frustrating and uncomfortable for him. He’s also been struggling to eat and drink since Friday, feeling like something is stuck in his gullet. This has meant some longer than usual hospital appointments while he’s been hooked up to fluids to stop him from getting dehydrated.

Despite all of this, Dave enjoyed a nice weekend watching sport in his flat…
