Prompt for the Promptless; Wu wei

Rarasaur‘s fourth weekly Prompt for the Promptless; Wu Wei

Wu wei, or non-doing, is a Taoist practice involving letting one’s action follow the simple and spontaneous course of nature rather than interfering with the harmonious working of universal law by imposing arbitrary and artificial forms.  In other words, it is the action of non-action.

I took the simplest course of action, for me, and googled ‘Wu wei’ and this is what I found: Continue reading

Surprise!

Today was my daddy’s birthday, he reached three score and ten.  Mum planned a lunch with some of their friends and my sister, and I secretly flew over last night and stayed with my sister.  I had also posted over his present to reduce suspicion, and I rang him this morning from my mobile to wish him happy birthday so he wouldn’t know I was in the country. Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details III

I like detail, I like zooming in to a focal point to see what has grabbed my attention.  I recently received a new camera (then I fell & broke it, and then luckily was covered by insurance so have replaced it) with a fantastic 24x zoom, much better than my previous compact camera.

Now I really can get lost in the details

I took this photo while out for a walk, but the boat really caught my eye Continue reading

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge; Rainbow Colours

I’ve never taken part in this photo challenge before, but the topic Rainbow Colours, well that’s me 🙂

My handbag, my purse, my laptop bag, my coat, all my clothes are rainbow colours, and the colour scheme in my house is, well, chaos.

I love taking photographs of rainbows, and this one really caught my eye recently.  We were flying to Egypt, about to land in Sharm El Sheikh, and this was the view from the window of the plane. Continue reading

Parallel Universes, The limits of probability, and Giraffes

I have been thinking about Giraffes all weekend.  On Saturday I was feeling very exhausted so we sat down to catch up on the Professor Brian Cox series; Wonders of Life.  In episode 3 he was talking about natural selection & the infinite possibilities of life presented by the way our DNA works, and how natural selection narrows down that infinity to the range of animals that we have on the planet today.  He was in Madagascar, where many many unique species exist due to the fact that Madagascar has been separated from the other land masses around it for millions of years. I feel like dancing!

Today is the third day in a row that I have woken up without feeling that I have been run over by an Ice Road Trucker!

Dancing

I haven’t woken up pain free since November.  It’s still hard to believe, this morning I lay in bed, aware that i was waking up, but not wanting to… afraid of the wave of pain about to hit me.  In the past, it would only take a few minutes of being conscious before that truck would hit me smack between the eyes & I would be paralysed with a blinding headache and pain all over.
