Travel Theme; Time

When in London, one of the top places to visit is Big Ben.

The name Big Ben is often used to describe the tower, the clock and the bell but the name was first given to the Great Bell.  The tower is called the Elizabeth Tower, but if looking for directions in London, it would be best to ask for Big Ben! Continue reading

An Apple Blossom Tree

I brought my camera with me yesterday when taking Wilson for a walk.  It was a cold grey Novemberish day, dark clouds, the threat of snow, but I thought if I don’t bring it, I will regret it.

At one point I noticed the sun trying to peep out from behind the clouds, and a blue patch of sky, so I steered our game of ball/stick towards a beautiful cherry blossom tree.

Please visit Dave in hospital (virtually)

My friend Dave from teacher training (he is a lot younger than me) is in hospital for the third time with leukaemia since starting our course in 2009. His blog plots his progress and his hiccups, and he’s in the middle of a huge hiccup.

He’s a maths teacher & loves the stats pages on WordPress, so if anyone who reads this can pop over & pay his blog a visit, he will be well chuffed when he is well enough to have a look at the stats pages again.

And if people out there have words of encouragement for him, that would be fab too, he has a team of family & friends by his bedside who are reading our comments to him at the moment

dick here…

david is getting a lot of positive vibes from every comment we read to him and it really is helping him through this difficult time, but unfortunately they appear to have slowed down of late. We understand that it is hard for people, and not everyone knows what to say, but it’s a lot harder for him and he really needs to hear from every single one of you, even if it is just to say hi! We need POSITIVE comments to get him through this!

much appreciated

Travel Theme; Green

Green is NOT my favourite colour.  I may have mentioned this before.

However there are some things that do look particularly good in green, mainly flora and some reptiles. Not Barbaras.  Barbaras do NOT look good in green. Continue reading

Upon Small Shoulders

I love Sinéad O’Connor, I always have.  When I first heard ‘Troy’ the haunting love song from her first album, The Lion & The Cobra, she was singing from my heart, from my soul.  She screamed for me, from me.

As a lover of Yeats’ poetry, and as a child born and raised in Ireland, I understood the symbolism of the lines, I knew too the places about which she sang. 2 years her junior, I was there.
