The 11th possibility

This one could most definitely be a wordless Wednesday

I am not sure why I find these animals so unexpected, they just always raise the question with me; why?

Rarasaur‘s second weekly Prompt for the Promptless; The 11th possibility

The 11th Possibility is the idea that, regardless of data to the contrary, something unexpected and outside the realm of ordinary thought is always potentially around the corner.

β€œA coin is flipped 10 times, and in each instance lands on either heads or tails. But even after the normalcy displayed by the first 10 flips, the result of the next flip is still unknown. The coin could turn into a bird and fly away. The coin could land perfectly on its ridged edge. The coin could dissolve upon landing. It could defy gravity and remain stuck in the air. This is the 11th Possibility.”

Giraffes also in my opinion, fit into this realm. Β Very happy to see that Professor Brian Cox finds them quirky too πŸ™‚

The 11th possibility … very clever. My granddaughter loves Giraffes too. We bought her a one at the zoo, Brittany named her Dayana.

You’re so right! If you put the giraffe after any other random selection of animals, you’d still be surprised by it’s unexpectedness! I don’t know if you follow FishOfGold– but if you don’t, you should, cuz she’s fabulous and she just recently did a little post about giraffes: http://fishofgold.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/how-to-make-a-giraffe-101/ Thanks for participating in Prompts for the Promptless!! πŸ˜€

It’s true, in Dublin we have a wonderful zoo, and as a child I used to wander through it gazing at all the different animals, the beautifully coloured birds, flamingoes and peacocks, the fascinating reptiles, the hippos and penguins, sea lions and elephants….. But when we arrived at the giraffe enclosure with its 5m high doors, I always did wonder what on earth ‘They’ were thinking with this one!
Will go visit fish of gold straight away πŸ™‚

I always love the Giraffes, maybe because the looked like me…. Long and skinny with knobly knees and markings like big freckles! You can keep the reptiles, but I’ll fight you for the penguins!

Now how would you like an elephant in your back garden? Take a look at this: Shiela the Belfast Elephant

Maybe that’s why I like them too, super tall like me and as you say freckles. I went to a physiotherapist once who said that one of the reasons I was getting such bad headaches was because of my exceptionally long neck! I never knew I had an exceptionally long neck, but maybe that’s why I identified with them then too πŸ™‚

The Elephant story is lovely, I would love to visit that lady’s house and retrace the steps that the elephant took every morning.

  6. Just a little boggled here (in a good way). What if the giraffe ate the coin?

This is great! I hadn’t even considered the whole animal realm that could fit this 11th possibility idea: giraffes for sure would top that list, but then there are also duckbill platyupi, kangaroos, ostriches, sloths… oh, the list could go on forever!

  10. I think naked mole rats and hairless cats fit in nicely with the 11th possibility too! I didn’t even think of animals, awesome!
