Weekly Photo Challenge: Patterns in Science

This weeks Weekly Photo Challenge is Pattern.

I love finding patterns in things.  When I was in University we went to CERN in Switzerland to see the ATLAS particle detector in the Large Hadron Collider and I found lots of interesting patterns that I photographed

I have no idea what most of the things I photographed are, just components of particle detectors or magnets or accelerators.  One of my favourite photos is of a bin of metal shavings!

The Big Egg Hunt (UK) Egg 8

This egg is skipping the alphabet queue.  I took lots and lots of photos of it, and I think it is one of my favourite of the eggs I found in Covent Garden this Easter.  It’s getting to skip the queue, because when I saw this weeks Weekly Photo Challenge was ‘Pattern‘, I thought of this egg. It is called ‘Untitled’ by Jack Newling

Weekly Photo Challenge: Pattern

This weeks Weekly Photo Challenge is Pattern, and for me the hardest thing was choosing just one photo, I love patterns, and I am always photographing them 🙂

I particularly love photographing patterns in nature, which is why I have chosen this picture of a beautiful patterned thistle.

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Above

I haven’t participated in the Weekly Photo Challenge for some time, I’ve been busy getting better, and I found the prompts a bit uninspiring, although I could have posted lots of pictures for the challenge ‘Culture’

The sun has finally come out here in London, and as a result I have been out playing with my camera in the garden.  Yesterday I was standing by the pond and happened to see one of Charlotte’s fish swimming near the surface, and managed to capture it ‘From Above’ (Although without an underwater camera there isn’t really another way to photograph fish!) The Big Egg Hunt (UK) Eggs 6 & 7; Abstract Painting #1 and Adventure Time Bro Hug

This is my 200th post! So I have decided to post 2 eggs again.  (Also I don’t have many pictures of them!)

The first is called Abstract Painting #1 by Thomas Whittle   [The hashtag (#) means number for those of my readers born after the advent of twitter!]

The Big Egg Hunt (UK) Egg 5; A New Way of Life

This egg was one of my favourites, I kept coming back to it again and again

I’m not sure that the photographs do it justice.  I’m also not sure how the title relates to the egg, but I couldn’t stay away! Continue reading

Spring has made it to my Garden!

Last week we had a couple of days where the temperature topped 20°C, and the flowers that had almost given up burst into blossom

Even Myrtle got a chance to explore the garden for the first time this year.  This week its not so warm, but we’re not back in the Arctic conditions that prevailed well into the beginning of April!

Here’s some pictures of a few of the flowers bursting forth at last!

The Big Egg Hunt (UK) Eggs 3 and 4; A Frugal Meal and A Monument to The Egg

Today I am posting two Eggs, one of which I like, the other doesn’t really do much for me.

Which do you think is which?

Which egg do you prefer? Continue reading

The Big Egg Hunt (UK) Egg 2; A Common History

The second Egg in my egg-alphabet is entitled ‘A Common History‘.  A coincidence that the first two eggs have the word history in their titles.

I’m not really sure what the meaning of this one is, but maybe I will reflect on it a bit more having posted it here.  I’m certainly thinking a lot about the first egg, …an uncertain daily history, especially following on from Al‘s suggestion that it might represent the Holocaust? Continue reading

The Big Egg Hunt (UK) Egg 1; …an uncertain daily history

Following my first post about The Big Egg Hunt in Dublin, some people commented that there had been a similar event in Covent Garden in London last year, so my investigating brain started ticking over & I Googled ‘Big Egg Hunt UK’ (it doesn’t take much these days to be an excellent detective)  I discovered that an entourage of Eggs have been touring the country since the 12th of February and were heading to Covent Garden for Easter.
