Freemantle

Our days on this holiday have been so full I have had no time to upload any photos of what we have been up to. I have a little time today so here are some photos from our second day in Western Australia. Hopefully the beautiful blue skies will cheer up some of my readers back in Europe?

Freemantle is a beautiful town on the Swan River just south of Perth. Having utterly exhausted us the previous day with our cycle to Rockingham beach, we were very pleased when our hosts suggested a drive to Freemantle (Or Freo as the locals call it!)

Freemantle Prison

The prison was built by the convicts that were sent there. It looked ominous enough so we decided to skip the tour and visit the colourful market instead!

We'll be back!

We didn't see any Emus or Koala bears in Australia, so we will definitely have to go back there soon!!

We had to stop for cool drinks and ice cream as the weather was
already getting hotter again so we went down to the waterside.  It’s lovely to see a dockside with water so clear you could swim in it!

The canoes in the café put us off swimming a little though!

When we got home we saw a Kookaburra on the TV aerial next door.  It was being attacked by a pair of wagtails but it was completely ignoring them, even though they were landing on it’s back & everything! I guess they must have had a nest nearby?

A bright and colourful Post. It is exactly the tonic I need this morning! Now to go outside and check my roof is still there.

You should have seen what we ate in Manly (Sydney) we were given tubs & 16 flavours of frozen yogurt to chose from & fill ourselves!! We ended up with over 400g of frozen yogurt each! I had one with 13 flavours (I passed on potato flavour!!)
