Al’s friend Michelle has just started a weekly pet challenge
Always a sucker for any opportunity to post photos of Wilson, here are the photos we took of him the first time we met him!
No pain no gain…
But this is HARD!!
I’ve started the 30 Day Ab Challenge. In fact I startled it 24 days ago, but I’m only on day 15. It’s really hard to motivate myself to do 15 to 20 minutes of painful exercise every morning!
The rest days I can manage, it’s just motivating myself to get back to it the next day…. And sometimes when I am working a few days in a row I simply can’t face it. Continue reading
Again the series of posts devoted to photography as visual storytelling have inspired me to start thinking about this week’s photo challenge, An Unusual POV in advance of the challenge. I often look at photos taken from strange positions and like how they look, and regularly end up lying down on the ground to take photos.
This week Lynn Wohlers wrote about taking photos from an unusual angle, and thought about how I often do this when photographing somewhere I regularly visit and photograph, the most obvious being my garden! Continue reading
Watching the news this evening we had to stop and rewind one particular item a few times as it was about an explosion that happened near a house where we used to live, and for a second we thought it was our old house.
The BBC news on television just gave the general area of the incident, so in order to find out where the explosion was I had a look at our local newspaper’s website. We were relieved to find out that it wasn’t on our old road, it felt weird to think it might have been our old house! The article however had a very strange quote; Continue reading
We walk past this house all the time, and pictures of it, or the island are always appearing on my blog as it is wonderfully photogenic. Continue reading
I have realised I’m only getting to post once a week at the moment which isn’t anywhere as often as I would like. I’m only working 2 days a week, but I keep getting asked to do extra days so that usually ends up as 3. Even still, it doesn’t feel to me like I have 4 days off a week at all!
I have been experimenting with my camera a lot more, but I haven’t had time to look at, let alone post the photos I’ve been taking! Continue reading
This is an easy one!
In case you are wondering why Wilson is wearing a coat in 27° (80°F) heat, it’s a ‘cool coat’, made from chamois leather. You wet it, wring it out & it keeps him from overheating no matter how much ball chasing he does!

Sorry I’m late Ailsa!
This week’s photo challenge Sea, has had me thinking. We spend most of our spare time in summer on or at the sea, preferably on it if it’s warm, even more preferably in it! I have a huge collection of photos to chose from. I have picked some of the sea when it looks very ‘unsealike’ 🙂
When you have a boat you have a unique opportunity to witness the sea at dusk and dawn, at high tide and at low tide, when suddenly a calm sea can become rough, or a choppy sea can become incredibly calm. Continue reading
I have only just learnt how to do this with my camera;
To take a macro photo and have the background out of focus. I have been learning how to use my camera better and make it take the photos that I want thanks to the great series of ‘The Craft of Photography‘ posts and a little help from my friends 🙂 I have a long way to go, but have been practising the very skill that this week’s photo challenge Focus, suggests we try. Continue reading
